Great Northern Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel right at the heart of Kings Cross.

A stones throw from the Eurostar and Coal Drops Yard and a close to the West End, the hotel is perfect place to land in London in style.

Constructed in 1854 by Lewis Cubitt, the architect behind King’s Cross station, the hotel was conceived as a stylish point of departure for patrons of the all-new steam trains.

Following a £14 million restoration, Great Northern Hotel reopened in 2013, a blend of sleek contemporary cool and beautifully restored Victorian features, with large sash windows, sweeping staircases and lofty ceilings.

 

The Rooms

There are 91 elegant rooms, in three styles. The snug Couchette (paying homage to the classic rail-car sleeper), the cozy Wainscott with dark panelling and moody deep purple walls, and the gloriously comfortable high-ceilinged Cubitt rooms.

All of the rooms are thoughtfully designed, making the most of the views from the large sash windows and equipped with custom Italian furniture. The contemporary bathrooms have white subway-style tiling, stylish free-standing white ceramic sinks, and include a line of GNH toiletries with a bespoke scent. Most have walk-in shower stalls with rainfall showerheads, while some Cubitt rooms also come decked with fabulous roll-top bathtubs. On each floor, you’ll also find a pantry, where you’re welcome to help yourself to Nespresso coffee, teas, homemade cakes and newspapers.

Eating and drinking at the Great Northern Hotel

The hotel is home to newly opened RAILS Restaurant & Little Bar – an elegant dining space serving modern serving modern British-French cuisine. A menu drawn together to pleasure guests with a relaxed and conforting dishes One of the most beautiful dining rooms in King’s Cross, RAILS evokes nostalgia and modern luxe. Watch out for their signature cheese trolley, delicious grilled meats, fish and vegetables with an impressive and extensive wine list.’

On the ground floor and opening onto the Western Concourse at King’s Cross Station is the glamorous GNH Bar. This art deco, Manhattan-style bar is a great meeting spot and hosts a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights.

 

Private Dining and Events

The hotel has three private dining and events spaces located on the first floor. The Carriage is a flexible space that can convert from a boardroom with audio visual conferencing to a dinner or cocktail party space with a beautiful  platinum bar.

Lounge 1 and 2 are next door to The Carriage, making them ideal places for breakout meeting rooms. In the evening, they’re perfect spaces for a special celebration.
