The trio behind BAO perfected their steamed buns in an East London market stall almost a decade ago. King’s Cross is their biggest venture to date, with dishes that are delicious, endlessly creative, and just good fun to eat.

The menu features those delicious fluffy white buns handmade and steamed fresh each day in the bakery using milk and a tangzhou starter. Fillings include classic combos as well as some delightfully innovative east-meets-west twists.
You’ll also find BAO’s take on western-style dishes such as the BAO hamburger. If you can, you should definitely save space for a dessert and a bubble tea.
The interiors of Bao takes inspiration from the kissatens, or tea-houses of Japan – although it could easily be a chic early-1970s film set, with wood-panelled walls, mid-century seating and beautiful paper lanterns suspended from the ceiling.
The King’s Cross venue is distinctive for two reasons – it’s the only Bao location to offer breakfast, and it also features the very first BAO Bakery Goods, which can be enjoyed in the restaurant, or as a takeaway from the ‘to-go’ counter.
